Le Concepteur or HockeyShare?
HockeyShare has been online since 2006 and has seen over a million drills. Le Concepteur is younger, smaller, and built in French. Here's what each one does well.
In short
HockeyShare is a go-to for English-speaking coaches: a diagrammer, practice plans and team management, with a free plan. If you want a tool in French, a drill bank that's sorted rather than huge, and a plan that holds the whole season together, Le Concepteur is built for that.
What HockeyShare does well
Nearly 20 years in
Online since 2006. Their site shows over 1.1 million drills and 548,000 practice plans built by their users. That's a huge community.
A real free plan
25 drills, 10 plans and one team, with no time limit. Premium has a 14-day trial with no card, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. We don't offer refunds.
A 2D and 3D diagrammer
Their new diagrammer animates drills in 2D or 3D and exports MP4 video. An AI setup, in beta, places players from a written description.
Team management
Lineups, stats, an ice schedule for a whole organization, a public team page. Le Concepteur doesn't do team management or game stats.
What Le Concepteur does better
French first
Their site mentions no French version. Le Concepteur was built in French by a Quebec coach, then translated to English. Your assistants and volunteer parents read it in their own language. And it's not just the interface: every drill in the bank, description included, is written in both French and English.
550 sorted drills rather than a million
A million drills is mostly a million things to sort through. Our bank has 550+ chosen drills sorted by level, U7 to U17+. You quickly find what fits your group.
Your whole season, from camp to the last game
Le Concepteur goes beyond drills and practice plans. You run your training camp (evaluations, cuts), evaluate your players all season long, set your goals and split your season into blocks, build your practices and send your playbook to your players. HockeyShare has a season scheduling grid and player evaluations (in beta); their site describes neither running a camp nor a tool to plan your team's progression.
Turbo Hockey, built in
The method of Stanley Cup champion Stephan Lebeau is inside the app. Pick a tactic and see the technical skills it requires, their priority for your age group, and whether to introduce, improve or consolidate them.
Simple pricing, and Quebec associations
One plan, $49 CAD a year, everything included. The Association plan starts at 10 coaches with 30 to 50% off. It's used by associations across Quebec.
Switch tools without starting over
Your drills are already in another tool? Send them as a PDF or screenshots: we rebuild them in Le Concepteur for you. The price depends on how many drills there are and how complex they are: we send you an estimate, with the timeline.
