Le Concepteur or Ice Hockey Systems?
Ice Hockey Systems is a huge library of drills, systems and videos, in English. Le Concepteur is a tool built in French to run your whole season. Here's what each one does well.
In short
Ice Hockey Systems (IHS) is first and foremost a library: 1,000+ drills, team systems, hundreds of videos, with a drawing tool, a practice planner and a game planner. If you're looking for a tool in French that stays with you from day one of camp to the last game, Le Concepteur is made for that.
What Ice Hockey Systems does well
Widely used
Over 30,000 coaches and 700 associations, according to their site. It's one of the go-to tools for English-speaking coaches.
A huge library
1,000+ drills, 225 small area games, 100 practice plans and 100 team systems, according to their plan comparison table. For ideas, it's a gold mine.
Lots of video
400+ skill development videos, 300 coaching clips and 100 coach education videos. You can also upload your own videos. Le Concepteur doesn't offer that much video.
A game planner
On top of drawing and practice plans, IHS has a game planner. Their IHS+ tier ($150 USD a year) adds two assistant coach accounts, live webinars and the Belfry Hockey library.
A plan for associations
From $30 USD per coach per year, with IHS+ for every coach, shared libraries and shared folders.
What Le Concepteur does better
French first
Ice Hockey Systems is English only. Le Concepteur was built in French by a Quebec coach, then translated to English. And it's not just the interface: every drill in the bank, description included, is written in both French and English.
Your whole season, from camp to the last game
Le Concepteur goes beyond drills and practice plans. You run your training camp (evaluations, cuts), evaluate your players all season long, set your goals and split your season into blocks, build your practices and send your playbook to your players. IHS's plan comparison table mentions neither running a camp nor a season plan.
Turbo Hockey, built in
The method of Stanley Cup champion Stephan Lebeau is inside the app. Pick a tactic and see the technical skills it requires, their priority for your age group, and whether to introduce, improve or consolidate them.
A drill bank sorted by level
550+ drills sorted from U7 to U17+. Fewer than IHS, but you start from what fits your group and adjust it in the designer, with animation.
Quebec associations
The Association plan starts at 10 coaches, with 30 to 50% off, an admin dashboard and a shared library. It's used by associations across Quebec.
Switch tools without starting over
Your drills are already in another tool? Send them as a PDF or screenshots: we rebuild them in Le Concepteur for you. The price depends on how many drills there are and how complex they are: we send you an estimate, with the timeline.
