How it runs
This is what your players need to understand before the puck moves.
Forwards line up at the defensive blue line. One line starts with pucks.
On the whistle, two players leave together and skate toward the offensive blue line.
At the blue line, both players perform powerful crossovers in the shaded zone and switch lanes. The player with the puck crosses in front of the player without the puck.
Players then attack the net.
Options : Shot on net while the other player drives for the rebound. Pass and immediate shot.
Coach Steve's take
A crossover is all about timing. If the puck carrier passes in front of his partner too early or too late, it doesn’t work. Start at medium speed so both players understand their paths, then speed up. Ask the player without the puck to stay available for the rebound. That is what separates a drill from a real game sequence. Vary the sides so nobody always works the same one.
